This year St Ives Parish Church celebrates 600 years since the laying of the first foundation stone. It is the oldest Christian building in St Ives and continues to play its part in the life of the town and community and for various reasons to many others. It is visited by many holiday makers from around the world. Importantly, it provides a space for everyone to contemplate their spiritual journey through life and where Christian worship is offered daily for everyone.
ST IA 6OO celebrates
THE PAST…. A vast display of pictures, documentation and memorabilia of the church through the years.
THE PRESENT…displays photographs and literature of the parish church at work today sharing its life and witness and acknowledging its inclusive welcome to everyone.
THE FUTURE…Plans and features that the PCC are launching to help the parish church engage in modern day society. In particular the proposed transformation of the parish rooms into a ‘state of the art’ space for church and community use aswell as proposed luxury accommodation.
The formal celebrations are planned to start on Easter day to visitors. This will include exhibitions, tours, and musical events (see St Ives church music link site) Culminating in a ten day extravaganza of flower displays and activities from 11th – 20th September.
